On the road to Canberra ....

After leaving Apollo Bay we drove up through the lovely relatively green Otway Mountains to Melbourne. We then skirted the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and now we have ground to a halt at Albury just in NSW by the Murray River. It was a long day in the car, we have sung along to our Christmas CDs until we are hoarse - Elton, Bill and the Beatles have been good company, but enough is enough! We covered 500 kms today which is plenty for us in the heat that built up during the day.

En route we called in at Glenrowan, allegedly the 'Last Stand of Ned Kelly'. It truly was Ned's town, with Ned's Burgers, Wines, Teashops and a ruddy great monster statue of the outlaw. Can you imagine the planning problems such an erection would encounter in England. It wouldn't happen for Robin Hood - not that size anyway, I'm sure!
