Spare a thought for the farmers ....

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that :

DROUGHT has so ravaged many NSW sheep flocks that farmers, desperately trying to sell the animals before they starve to death, cannot attract a bid when they take them to saleyard auctions. And if they do make a sale, they often get less than $2 a head.

the report goes on .....
Mr Groves, president of the Sheepmeat Council of Australia, said: "This drought has halved the number of sheep in Australia -for the first time ever there are more people in Queensland than there are sheep."

He has called for government assistance to help farmers disposeof sheep they cannot feed. "They need help just digging the hole tobury them in.
